Raphael and the Batman

Batman vs my boy Raphael, as I see it.... Just indulging my inner 8 year-old. I also wanted to experiment with something a bit darker after using mainly vibrant, bright colors.

Indy Fan Art

I was a huge Indiana Jones fan growing up and felt like drawing something fun... Made with Photoshop and a Cintiq tablet, like usual.

This is a personal piece for my portfolio. I made an image of Santa's workshop filled with Melissa and Doug toys. They make great educational toys and place a premium on creativity. Great craftsmanship, so it was only fitting to go to the North Pole.

All Tied Up

This takes me back... Probably my first digital painting that I felt was successful at the end. It was made four or five years ago and took ages... Things are thankfully much quicker now.

At the Beach

The idea here was to experiment with a totally different style. I tried to make an image appear to be made out of different layers of construction paper... Not my thing but it's always good to step outside the box.

Monk and Tigers

This one was commissioned a few years back. The client wanted me to make an illustration based on a short story. I don't have it off hand, but it was about a Monk who was stranded on a branch between two cliffs, a hungry tiger both above and below him. He was in a precarious position but was still able to make the best of his predicament by enjoying the cherries on his branch.

Shamus...RIP!

The Pooch... I feel it's too detailed where it doesn't need to be. After I made this I started to pay more attention to the focal point of an image, while neglecting areas where you don't want the viewers' eye to linger. It's very important to know where to take a step back in certain areas.

Project Evolution

An illustration for Project Evolution Designs... the concept was theirs. It was a challenge to render everything and make it look like it was on a three dimensional globe, but it pushed me and I learned a lot along the way despite any frustrations. No pain no gain!

Tree Fairy

Just experimenting with a Children's book style. It's one of my first digital images from several years ago. It was a challenge separating the three layers - foreground, midground and background - via detail and focus. I'm not entirely happy with the composition, line art etc, but I do like the color scheme.
